Respect on Social Media

As the Commonwealth Games approaches, Bowls Scotland urges all bowlers across the country to get behind Team Scotland.

Unfortunately, we have seen a growing number of personal, disrespectful and abusive comments, including inappropriate comments on players’ appearance, on both our own and other social media channels. These comments are made about players at all levels of the game. Whether playing for Scotland or in a local club game, all players, umpires and volunteers are putting in their best efforts and deserve respect in person and online.

We encourage everyone to engage on Bowls Scotland social media in a constructive and respectful manner. We will remove comments that are abusive or disrespectful. Repeat offenders will be blocked. While some of these comments are no doubt intended in jest and aimed at friends or acquaintances, this is not clear to admin or other viewers. With over 25,000 followers the Bowls Scotland Facebook page is probably not the place to be digging out your mates.
