International Squad Announced for 2026
Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce its International Squad for 2026 as preparations continue for a busy season of international competition.
A total of 74 players and directors have been named across the Men’s, Women’s and Para squads, with Scotland set to compete in a number of major events this year, including the British Bowls Internationals, Atlantic International Challenge and Bowls Europe Championships.
The 2026 squad brings together a strong mix of established international players, experienced performers and exciting new additions, with a number of players earning their place following impressive performances across county, district and Podium Pathway events.
Within the Men’s International Squad, Ian Bell, Robbie Cuthill, Liam Nicholson, Lyle Robertson and Gordon White have been included following consistent performances across the domestic season, while also impressing at Podium Open events.
In the Women’s International Squad, Abbie Harris earns a well-deserved call-up after a series of high-level performances at a young age. Erin Bedwell, Emma Blyth and Leah McCloy have also been rewarded for their continued progression following their time within the U25 squad, while Claire McCurdie is included after strong performances through the Podium Pathway events.
The Para International Squad also sees several new additions, with Alexander Paterson, Declan Tobin, Paul Sharp and Andrew Fleming selected following strong performances across the Podium Opens and assessment weekend. Bowls Scotland is also pleased to welcome new directors into the squad as the programme continues to grow in strength and depth.
Speaking on the 2026 International Squad selection, Bowls Scotland’s Head of High Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said:
“We are delighted to announce our International Squad for 2026, with a number of players and directors earning their place following a highly competitive selection process.
“It is fantastic to see new names coming into the squads, alongside a strong group of experienced international players who continue to set high standards both on and off the green.
“This year presents another exciting opportunity for our players to represent Scotland on the international stage. I am looking forward to seeing the squad continue to push one another within our training environments and compete with pride across a busy international calendar.”
All members of the squad will attend the International Squad Day at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr on Sunday 14th June, after which Scotland’s teams for the 2026 British Bowls Internationals will be announced.
