GC 2018 Day Six

Day six of the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games saw the Team Scotland lawn bowlers in action from morning till evening at Broadbeach BC.

No-one was busier than Darren Burnett, who played and won three matches to reach the quarter-finals of the men's singles.

He started the day with a 21-13 win against Todd Priaulx of Guernsey in round three, before beating Abd Rahman Omar of Brunei Darussalam 21-8 in round four, and then beating Muhammad Soufi Rusli of Malaysia 21-19 in round five. He plays his quarter-final on Thursday (midnight BST), with his opponent yet to be decided.

The B2/B3 mixed pairs team of Irene Edgar and Robert Barr and directors David Thomas and Sarah Jane Ewing will play for the bronze medal after being beaten 14-8 by Australia in a real battle at Broadbeach BC in the semi-final.

They will play Wales in the bronze medal match at 10am (BST) tomorrow.

In round three of the women's pairs, Lesley Doig and Claire Johnston beat Brunei Darussalam 32-9.

In the men's fours, Ronnie Duncan, Derek Oliver, Paul Foster and Alex Marshall beat Singapore 29-5 in round two.

In round three of the women's triples, Kay Moran, Stacey McDougall and Caroline Brown were beaten 17-10 by Malaysia.
