Morayshire Ladies Association win 2022 Ladies National Top 10

Morayshire Ladies Association were crowned Ladies National Top 10 champions for 2022 at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr after defeating defending champions Allsorts in this afternoons final.

In the singles, Morayshire’s Sandra Dean trailed former Commonwealth Games gold medallist Margaret Letham 3-10 in the opening stages. However, Sandra eventually found her rhythm and completed an impressive comeback to win 21-14.

Morayshire’s pairs also clinched a vital win at the last end to secure the victory overall. Anne Anderson and Isobel Laing trailed 9-15 with only four ends remaining but scored counts of 4, 2, 1 & 1 to defeat Sue Feeney and Margaret Hicks 17-15.

Newly crowned Ladies National Singles champion, Natalie McWilliams, skipped her triple of Holly Barrett and Arianna Mowat to a 17-9 victory for the Allsorts against Carol Simpson, Vera Cruickshank and Alison Gillies. The young trio were always in front and claimed a vital 2 points for the Allsorts hopes of defending their title.

The fours was also a nip and tuck encounter from start to finish as the teams traded bowl for bowl throughout the match. Allsorts scored a single shot at the last end to see the game finish as a 15-each draw.
