International Assessment Weekend Attendees Confirmed

Following the conclusion of this year’s Podium Open events, Bowls Scotland is pleased to confirm the players and directors who have progressed to the 2026 International Assessment Weekend.

The assessment weekend will take place on Saturday 6th and Sunday 7th June at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr, with a total of 92 players and directors set to take part across the Men’s, Women’s and Para programmes.

Following a refinement of the selection process this year, those who are successful at the assessment weekend will join our shortlisted Commonwealth Games athletes in the 2026 National Squad.

The 2026 British Bowls Internationals will also be held at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr, from Thursday 25th – Sunday 28th June.

As the U18 and U25 International Series are scheduled for later in the year, their respective International Assessment Days will take place on:

Saturday 20th June – U18 Assessment Day
Saturday 16th August – U25 Assessment Day

Speaking ahead of the International Assessment Weekend, Bowls Scotland’s Head of High Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said:

“There was some exceptional bowling on display, and it’s incredibly encouraging, as we move into year three of the Drive to Success – Podium Pathway, to see a continued increase in both the diversity of age and gender among those progressing through the qualification stages.

I would like to congratulate all players who have advanced to the next step of the selection process. I would also like to extend a huge thank you to our host clubs, competition leads, assessors and umpires, whose efforts ensured the Podium events ran smoothly and provided a high-quality, competitive environment for players to showcase their abilities.”

Bowls Scotland would like to congratulate all players and directors invited to attend the International Assessment Weekend and wish everyone the very best of luck.
