GC 2018 Day Three

It was a busy day of lawn bowls at the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games on Saturday.

Caroline Brown was knocked out of the women's singles by Kelly McKerihen of Canada 21-12 in the quarter-finals, a real battle, with Caroline giving it her all. Earlier in the day, Caroline had a 21-13 win against Laura Daniels of Wales.

In the men’s pairs, Paul Foster and Alex Marshall beat Malaysia 27-9, before playing them again in the quarter-finals, where they won 16-11.

Northern Ireland beat Scotland 16-14 in the men’s triples, but Ronnie Duncan, Derek Oliver and Darren Burnett were already into the quarter-finals, and they won 15-13 against Wales.

Unfortunately, the women's fours came up against a strong Canadian team and were beaten 24-11 in an enthralling quarter-final in which Lesley Doig, Stacey McDougall, Kay Moran and Claire Johnston gave it their all.

In the B2/B3 mixed pairs, Irene Edgar and Robert Barr, with directors David Thomas and Sarah Jane Ewing, were beaten 18-3 by South Africa in round three.

In the B6/B7/B8 open triples, Garry Brown, Michael Simpson and Michael Nicoll were beaten 17-9 by New Zealand in round three.
