Lewis MacLellan and Fynn Van Wordragen win 2025 Alan Michie Under 16 Open Pairs
Well done to Lewis MacLellan and Fynn Van Wordragen, who won the 2025 Alan Michie Under 16 Open Pairs today at Grangemouth Bowling Club.
The young duo impressively went unbeaten across all seven of their games in the competition. Lewis and Fynn qualified for the knockout stages from Group D as one of two highest runners-up, courtesy of their three wins and one draw in four matches.
In the quarter finals, Lewis and Fynn produced some great bowls to defeat Scotland under 18 internationalist Kayden Young and defending champion Frazer Lees 7-0.
Next up for the pair from Dunning Bowling Club in the semi final was Kaitlyn Rodger and Bowls Scotland Youth Singles champion Jacek Goldie. This game was a much tighter affair with the match still there for the taking for both teams going into the last end. Lewis and Fynn managed to keep their cool and come out on top with a 7-5 victory.
The final saw Lewis and Fynn take on Becky Sinclair and Drew Sinclair from Strathmiglo Bowling Club. Continuing their strong performances, Lewis and Fynn raced into a 5-1 lead going into the last end and were able to see the game out by only losing a single shot.
Commiserations to Becky and Drew who were worthy finalists, winning five matches throughout the competition to reach the final.
