Bowls Scotland announces Glasgow 2026 Athlete Longlist
Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the squad of athletes who have been selected for inclusion in the selection process to represent Team Scotland at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The Commonwealth Games is undoubtedly the pinnacle event for bowls and para bowls. As the host nation, we aim to ensure that Glasgow 2026 will be a success both on and off the green, by continuing to secure medals for Team Scotland as well as using the event to demonstrate our sport’s inclusivity and encourage new participants.
We will be developing activities during the 2026 season to take advantage of the unique opportunity that a home Commonwealth Games creates, and we encourage all affiliated clubs to consider how they might welcome new bowlers into our sport.
Following a year of rigorous preparations and international competition, our High Performance team have now shortlisted 22 athletes who will be aiming to make the final selection for next year’s Commonwealth Games.
In a Games first, Glasgow 2026 will see bowls and para bowls contested indoors with medal events in singles and pairs (men and women), para pairs (men and women) and visually impaired pairs (mixed).
Bowls Scotland’s Head of High Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said: “Announcing the longlist for the 2026 Commonwealth Games marks an exciting milestone on our journey towards next year’s Games.
“This group of athletes represents the depth of talent we have within Scottish bowls and they have earned this opportunity after demonstrating consistent performances and individual excellence but also a strong contribution to the collective team environment that underpins our success.
“Representing Team Scotland at a home Games is a privilege. Our focus now is on maintaining the highest performance standards, enhancing our team dynamics and supporting each athlete as they work towards final selection.”
Athlete assessment will conclude in April 2026, following which the team for Glasgow 2026 will be nominated, selected and announced.
