2025 Hong Kong Classic - Day Six Report
Scotland delivered further positive results on day six of the Hong Kong Classic, with our men’s and women’s pairs recording four wins from today’s six fixtures.
Darren Gualtieri and Gary Prunty continue to maintain their 100% winning record in the men’s pairs, picking up three 6-0 victories from their three encounters on Friday. The Scottish pairing produced three accomplished performances to overcome TMSA, KBGC and ZGMBC.
Scotland’s men’s pair take on GLBC tomorrow morning in their final group match having already secured first position in Group B. Their quarter final will then take place at 1pm (5am GMT) and if successful they will also contest the semi final at 3.30pm (7.30am GMT).
In the women’s pairs, Jess Weir and Alison Lamont managed to notch up one win from their three contests on day six. Starting off their day, the Scots lost 0-6 to Hong Kong China in an extremely tight match with only one shot separating the two nations in both sets. Responding well, Jess and Alison secured a vital 6-0 victory over India in their second game. In their final match of the day, the Scottish duo were defeated 2-4 by New Zealand following a 7-5 first set win and 5-13 second set loss.
Jess and Alison currently sit in second place in Group C and face ZGMBC in their last remaining sectional game tomorrow morning, requiring two points to automatically confirm their place in the knockout phase. With results going in their favour, the Scottish pairing will contest their quarter and semi final matches at the same times as above.
