Scotland v Ireland Para Test Match: Day 1 Session Two Results

Scotland kept up their impressive form in the second session of this week’s Ireland test match as they clinched two victories and two draws in the Physically Disabled and Visually Impaired Triples.

Amy Buck, Steve Kay and James Dick led the way with a convincing straight sets win over Norman Rainey, Glenn Kaufmann and Liz Thompson. The Scottish trio won the opening set 12-2 and continued their strong showing in the second set to win 6-2.

The triple of Fraser Mathieson, John Miller and Robert Barr also recorded a comfortable 2-0 victory against Kevin McManus, Peter Cullinan and Sam McAfee. Both sets were closely contested with the Scots coming out on top 7-3 in the first set and 11-7 in the second set.

Shazaid Hussain, Mary Stevenson and Ross Noble had to settle for a 1-1 draw when they came up against Paul Fisher, Linda Walsh and Mairead Loughran. The Scotland team won the first set convincingly 15-2 but narrowly lost out in the second set 3-5.

Finally, Sharon Moncrieff, Ian Graham and Michael Simpson also finished with honours even against Conor Thompson, Billy Finnegan and Brian Smyth. Scotland lost out in the first set 5-7 but showed strong character to bounce back and win the second set 5-4.
