Scotland Complete Round-Robin Stage at Four Nations

Scotland completed the final day of round-robin fixtures at the Four Nations on Thursday 30 April, taking on Australia across another full day of international action at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club.

Following two competitive days against Ireland and Malaysia, Scotland returned to the green for Day 3 with matches across singles, pairs, para pairs and VI mixed pairs.

The final round-robin fixtures proved important across a number of disciplines, with Scotland producing strong results against Australia as medal places were confirmed for Friday’s final day.

Jason Banks produced one of Scotland’s key results in the men’s singles, recording an important victory over Australia during the afternoon session. His performances across the round-robin stage secured his place in Friday’s gold medal match, where he will face Ireland’s Gary Kelly.

There was also a standout day for Pauline Wilson and Mary Wilson in the para women’s pairs. The Scottish duo came through two close contests against Australia’s Hoskins and Bonnell, doing enough to secure their place in the gold medal match.

In the VI mixed pairs, Mary Stevenson and Robert Barr continued their strong campaign with another competitive day against Australia’s Hudson and Fehlberg. After a consistent round-robin stage, the Scottish pair also secured a place in Friday’s gold medal match.

Elsewhere, Scotland were involved in several tight contests across the women’s pairs, men’s pairs, women’s singles and para men’s pairs, with those results helping shape the final medal fixtures.

Scotland will also be represented in bronze medal matches through Caroline Brown in the women’s singles, Paul Foster MBE and Alex Marshall MBE in the men’s pairs, Beth Riva and Caroline Brown in the women’s pairs, and Gary Brown and Stuart Sloan in the para men’s pairs.

The Four Nations will conclude on Friday 1 May, with medal matches taking place throughout the day at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club.
