Scottish Sport Awards 2022

Birmingham 2022 was yet another record-breaking Commonwealth Games for Scotland’s lawn bowlers. Our Para Lawn Bowlers won an astounding three out of three gold medals whilst there were also bronze medals added in the Men’s Singles and Men’s Pairs.

Following on from the Games, we are delighted that our athletes have received warm welcomes back at their clubs, local and national media coverage and also being recognised in some of the country’s biggest sporting awards.

Rosemary Lenton recently won Para Athlete of the Year at the Scottish Women in Sport Awards, a truly deserved award for an inspirational woman. Robert Barr was also recognised with an award, only last week, winning the Disability Achievement Award at the recent Sports Council for Glasgow Awards. Our next nominee to look out for is our very own Para Bowls Co-Ordinator, Bob Christie, who has been shortlisted for Coach of the Year at Team Scotland’s Scottish Sport Awards. All eight of our B2022 gold medal winning para bowlers have also been nominated for the Team of the Year award.

The awards night takes place in Edinburgh on Wednesday 7th December, and we are sure our Scottish bowling community will join us in congratulating both Bob and the players for being shortlisted amongst the greats of Scottish sport.

On being shortlisted for Coach of the Year, Bob, added: “I’m extremely honoured and proud to be nominated for such an award and to go toe to toe with some of the country’s greatest coaches is a reward for all the efforts and performances that the squad have put in over the past couple of years.”

Bowls Scotland will share updates from the awards night so be sure to follow our social media channels as well as Team Scotland’s platforms. For more information, please visit: https://www.teamscotland.scot/scottish-sports-awards-finalists-2022/
