Gary Grant appointed onto Bowls Scotland Board of Directors
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Gary Grant as a General Director onto the Bowls Scotland Board of Directors.
Gary’s professional background is in business advice and counselling, having held Senior Management roles in international businesses and managed staff teams both in the UK and overseas. Gary currently works in the field of Project Procurement and Supply Chain Management for an international firm based in Glasgow.
In his spare time, Gary is also an avid bowler having been introduced to the sport at the age of 10 by his grandfather. He is currently a member of Glencarse Bowling Club in Perthshire, where he has held committee roles including Secretary and Past President as well as being a former President and the current Match Secretary of the Perth and District League. In a playing capacity, Gary has won pairs, triples and fours Perthshire County Championships titles as well as previously representing both City of Dundee and Perthshire counties in the Andrew Hamilton Trophy.
Looking forward to starting his new role, Gary said: “I have a genuine appreciation and respect for the volunteer effort that is required to manage, maintain and develop bowling clubs across the country. When I became aware that Bowls Scotland were seeking new Board Directors, I was curious to find out more, gain a better understanding of how things work and explore how I might possibly be able to help.
“Through the interview process I have been struck by the calibre, experience and expertise of the Board Directors and staff. They have a passion, both individually and collectively, for the organisation and the values that are at the heart of Bowls Scotland’s strategy.
“The collective commitment to the strategy to develop the sport and support bowling clubs and their members is inspiring. I am very grateful to have an opportunity to play whatever part I can in the network that supports all that vital work-in-progress.”
Bowls Scotland Interim Chair, David Scouller, added: “I am pleased to welcome Gary onto the Board of Directors.
“Having a professional career in business management and successfully leading large staff teams and projects, I’m sure Gary’s skills will undoubtedly be a great asset to the Board. Gary’s bowls experience both on the green and in administrative roles will also give him a better understanding of both the challenges and opportunities we face at a national level.
“Both I and my fellow Board Directors look forward to working with Gary and wish him every success in his new role.”
