Scotland v England Para Test Match: Day 1 Session Two Results
Scotland bounced back in impressive fashion winning today’s second test series against England as they secured wins in five of the six matches being contested.
In the Physically Disabled Pairs, Mary Wilson and Michael Simpson gelled from the off and delivered a superb display of bowling to defeat England’s Johnathon Stokes and Mike Robertson 22-4. The all-Fife pairing of Billy Allan and Glen Livingston backed this up with an 18-13 victory of their own over Colin Wagstaff and Mike McDonagh. Mark Fleming and Alex Paterson made it a hat-trick of Scottish wins in the PD Pairs courtesy of a hard fought 15-11 triumph against Colin Milner and Anthony Page.
Unfortunately, Ross Young and Stuart Stevens tasted Scotland’s only defeat in the session as they faced a tough encounter against Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games bronze medallists, Craig Bowler and Kieran Rollings. The Scots eventually finished with a 10-22 defeat.
Both Scottish Visually Impaired Pairs were not to be outdone by their international colleagues as they both recorded excellent wins of their own. Cat Black (with Director, Jim Aitken) and Ross Noble put in an accomplished display to see off Sarah Marshall (with Director, Chris Vein) and David Wood (with Director, Nigel Morgan) 16-9. James Dick (with Director, Iain Riach) and Sandy Mackintosh (with Director, Lawra Cox) also finished off the day with a convincing 18-10 win against Kevin Betteridge (with Director, Jayne Sippitts) & Sally-Ann Lewis-Wall (with Director, Elizabeth Shipley).
Another two-test series will be completed tomorrow with the scores currently tied at one test win a piece. Reports and scores from these games will be provided on Saturday.
