2025 Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles - Day One Report

The inaugural Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles Championships got underway today at Sun Bowls Club, Jersey. Scotland are represented by Megan Sproat and Danny Stevenson, who both progressed through day one of the tournament with 100% winning records.

In Group A, Danny completed three of his six group matches with wins over Ireland A, Hungary B and England A. His most notable victory of the day came in the first session when he got the better of Ireland’s Daniel Spratt in a nail-biting one end tie break.

Tomorrow sees Danny take on Turkey’s Umut Can Ileri and Ido Iron from Israel as he looks to continue his impressive start.

Megan Sproat displayed equally strong form in Group B by winning her opening two sectional games. The Ladeside of Kilbirnie Bowling Club player dispatched of both Hungary’s Mate Dobos and Turkey’s Yusuf Emre Boyun in straight sets.

Megan comes up against Lloyd Milligan from England and Jersey’s Taylor Greechan in her two matches tomorrow, which will be crucial contests for her qualification hopes.
