Scotland team announced for 2025 British Bowls U25 Internationals

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the players that have been selected to represent Scotland at the 2025 British Bowls Under 25 Internationals.

The British Bowls U25 Internationals will be contested between Scotland, England, Ireland and Wales on Saturday 13th and Sunday 14th September at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr, Scotland. A total of 28 players have been selected, consisting of an equal split of 14 under 25 male players and 14 under 25 female players.

To align with the British Bowls Internationals and British Bowls U18 Internationals, for the first time, the British Bowls U25 Internationals will see players competing across singles, pairs, triples and fours disciplines in a ‘top 12’ format. Scotland will be looking to retain all three of the men’s, women’s and combined series titles they won at last year’s series.

In the men’s team, Scotland’s coaches have kept faith with the bulk of last year’s team as nine of the 14 players selected competed in the 2024 series at Belmont Bowling Club, Belfast. There are three new caps to add to this year’s side with Kyle Dalrymple, Kieran Dodds and Arron McGlynn all earning their first U25 call ups. Stewart McAlees and Danny Stevenson are re-called to the team, having both previously represented Scotland at U25 International level in 2023.

The women’s team also features a familiar lineup after winning their series for the last two years. 11 of the 14 players involved were all part of last year’s successful side, with the three new caps being Erin Bedwell, Sarah Campbell and Laura McCabe, who have all played for Scotland at U25 International level indoors.

Bowls Scotland’s U25 Pathway Lead, Colin Noon, said: “I’d firstly like to congratulate all of the players who participated in a very competitive Assessment Day at Northfield on Saturday 16th August. The standard on display was truly exceptional, making the selection process the toughest we’ve been involved in, and many will rightly be very disappointed not to make the final squad.

“However, the players selected give a good balance of experience alongside several new caps, and offers a high degree of versatility across the range of positions required for a format that is new to us all at this age group.

“Julie, Iain, Kim and I are honoured to be guiding this array of talent and we look forward to doing our utmost to defend the titles we won in Belfast last year.”
