2025 Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles - Day Two Report
The second day of action at the 2025 Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles Championships brought mixed fortunes for Scotland’s Megan Sproat and Danny Stevenson.
In Group A, Danny Stevenson extended his winning streak to five matches by securing wins over Turkey B and Israel. The Scot didn’t have things all his own way as he found himself a set down and 0-4 behind after two ends in the second set against Ido Iron from Israel. Keen to maintain his unbeaten record, Danny rallied to win five ends in a row without reply to take the second set 10-4. The game now entered a one end tie break with Danny producing the telling bowls to win the contest.
With one round of group matches left to be completed tomorrow morning, Danny has already guaranteed his qualification for the semi final stage of the competition. His final group game will be against Jersey’s Megan Kivlin at 9am before he competes in the semi final at 11.30am.
Following her two wins yesterday, Megan Sproat suffered two defeats today at the hands of England’s Lloyd Milligan and Taylor Greechan from Jersey. Megan was beaten in straight sets in both matches but both games were decided by fine margins, which unfortunately didn’t fall in Scotland’s favour.
Megan currently sits in third position in Group B and faces Ireland’s Zoe Stratton in her last remaining group game tomorrow morning. The Scot must win this match and rely on England’s Lloyd Milligan to beat Jersey’s Taylor Greechan if she is to advance to the knockout phase.
