Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the players that have been selected to represent Scotland at the 2024 Atlantic International Challenge.
The inaugural Atlantic International Challenge has seen the development of a partnership between Scotland, Canada, USA and Ireland to develop a world class competitive opportunity for our players on home soil. The event kicks off on Monday 26th running until Friday 30th August at the National Centre for Bowling, Northfield and will see 5 men and women from each of the nation’s compete in World Championship format. The five-player format will consist of four days of singles/fours and triples/pairs with a shakeup on Friday with two singles and a triples competing to win last minute points.
The Women’s side of Dee Hoggan, Dawn Anderson, Rebecca Houston, Beth Riva, and Lynn Lees are fresh from their strong performances at the British Isles International series and are eager to make the most of their home advantage and bring glory to Scotland. The men’s side has a wealth of experience with Jason Banks, Gary Prunty, Mark Kelsey, Connor Milne and Daniel Gormley who are looking to build on their team connections and dominate this event.
Bowls Scotland’s Head of Performance, Kareena Cuthbert, said: “The inaugural Atlantic International Challenge was established with the aim to provide much needed world class Northern Hemisphere competition. It is an exciting opportunity to play some old rivals and generate new adversaries in the American and Canadian teams. This will be an annual event with further expansion expected to include para disciplines and potentially other nations in future and we are thrilled that it has also been recognised by World Bowls to be registered as a ranking event within their calendar.
Bowls Scotland are thrilled to host this highly competitive event at our national centre. We have confidence in the experience and calibre of our selected players to deliver excellent performances across the week. I would encourage any avid spectators to get down to support our national teams.”
