Success for Bowls Scotland off the green as well as on
We are delighted to announce that other than the great performances on the green, Scotland has achieved success off the green this week.
At the AGM of the European Bowls Union held in Guernsey on the 26th of September, District 5 Secretary and current Bowls Scotland Board member Bob Christie was voted in as Vice President along with the great news that current Bowls Scotland President Jock Halliday was voted in as the new Secretary of the EBU.
Jock Halliday commented: “It is a great honour to be appointed by the member nations of Europe as secretary for the EBU. I am delighted to take this post on and look forward to working with the member nations”
Towards the end of the meeting it was also agreed unanimously that the next European Championships in 2021 will take place at the National Centre for Bowling in Ayr, rounding off a great week for the players and officials.
Bob Christie said: “For myself and Jock to be appointed into two distinguished posts within the European Bowls Union is a great honour. We are also delighted that following a well-received presentation from the Competitions and Events Manager Claire Johnston, Bowls Scotland was awarded the championships in 2021. We will be starting preparations soon to make sure things are in place".
