Ronnie Duncan and Dee Hoggan selected to represent Bowls Scotland at World Bowls Indoor Championships
We are delighted to announce that Ronnie Duncan (Bonnyrigg BC) and Dee Hoggan (Tranent BC) will represent Bowls Scotland at the World Bowls Indoor Championships between Monday 20th – Friday 24th April at Bristol Indoor Bowling Club.
This event replaces World Bowls’ previous World Cup, held annually at Warilla Bowls & Recreation Club in Australia, and the International Indoor Bowls Council’s World Indoor Championships. The new tournament will be held annually but the host venue will alternate between the Northern Hemisphere and Warilla.
Ronnie and Dee will compete in the men’s and women’s singles championships and play together in the mixed pairs championship across the five days of play. Scotland will also have two representatives from the SIBA taking part in this global event.
The duo will be looking to add to their impressive list of achievements as Ronnie is a current double Commonwealth Games gold medallist and Dee is a former Bowls Scotland national women’s singles winner and BIWBC women’s singles champion.
Bowls Scotland High Performance Coach, David Gourlay MBE, said: “We are excited to be competing in this new format for the World Bowls Indoor Championships. I have full confidence in both players selected for this event and it will be good preparation for both Ronnie and Dee in the run up to the World Championships. We were successful at the Junior Championships in December and we’ll be looking to bring home more medals from the Senior Championships in April.”
