Scotland Secure Four Medals as Four Nations Concludes in Glasgow
Scotland brought the Four Nations to a close with four medals on the final day of action at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club.
Following three days of round-robin fixtures against Ireland, Malaysia and Australia, Scotland were represented across seven medal matches on Friday 1 May, including three gold medal contests and four bronze medal matches.
The standout moments came in the Para Women’s Pairs and VI Mixed Pairs, with Scotland securing two gold medals.
Pauline Wilson and Mary Wilson produced a brilliant performance to win gold in the Para Women’s Pairs, overcoming Australia’s Hoskins and Bonnell in the final.
There was further gold for Mary Stevenson and Robert Barr in the VI Mixed Pairs, as they defeated Australia’s Hudson and Fehlberg. Stevenson and Barr were supported throughout the competition by Directors Sarah Jane Ewing and Jim Aitken.
In the Men’s Singles, Jason Banks added silver to Scotland’s medal tally after reaching the gold medal match against Ireland’s Gary Kelly. Banks produced a strong campaign across the week to finish on the podium in a competitive singles field.
Scotland’s first medal of the day came in the Para Men’s Pairs, where Garry Brown and Stuart Sloan secured bronze with victory over Ireland’s Evans and Smyth.
Elsewhere, Caroline Brown contested the Women’s Singles bronze medal match, Paul Foster MBE and Alex Marshall MBE competed in the Men’s Pairs bronze medal match, and Beth Riva and Caroline Brown were in action in the Women’s Pairs bronze medal match.
The event marked four days of international competition at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club, with Scotland, Ireland, Malaysia and Australia competing across singles, pairs, para pairs and VI mixed pairs disciplines.
