2025 British Bowls U25 Internationals - Day Two Report
Scotland’s men were crowed champions at this year's British Bowls U25 Internationals at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr. Our women’s team agonisingly finished as runners-up in their series on shot difference to England.
Session Five
Scotland’s men commenced day two with a 7-3 victory against Wales.
Kyle Dalrymple and Lewis Betts extended their unbeaten run in the men’s pairs when they got the better of Lewys Lavelle and JJ Jones Coles 18-13.
The spoils were shared by both countries across the two men’s triples disciplines. Charlie Mitchell, Arron Craig and Craig Mackintosh tasted defeat for the first time in the series as they lost out to Jack Thomas, Jack Mounty and Cory Bayliss 13-23. In the other men’s triples match, Logan Kennedy, Ross Gouldstone and Stewart McAlees produced a dominant performance to overcome Elijah Minett, Billy Flynn and Cory Davies 23-5.
Our men’s fours team of Arron McGlynn, Jamie Noon, Lee Trotter and Danny Stevenson were involved in another nip and tuck encounter, eventually having to settle for a 12-12 draw against Tal Gunter, Oliver Witchell, Owain LeBreton and Rhys Colwill.
Scotland’s women picked up maximum points over Wales with a crucial 10-0 win.
In the women’s pairs, Kara Lees and Beth Riva chalked up another important victory, this time getting the better of Lauren Viles and Jasmine Staton 18-16.
Both Scottish women’s triples also notched up wins of their own. Beth Isbister, Leah McCloy and Eilidh Weir continued to boast their 100% winning record with a 19-12 triumph over Rhianna Thompson, Libby Harris and Olivia Jackson. Erin Bedwell, Sophie McGrouther and Megan Sproat dug deep to defeat Seren Jones, Katie Dickson and Ffion Stephens 17-16 at the last end.
Lauren Roddie, Laura McCabe, Emma Blyth and Rebecca Houston returned to winning ways in the women’s fours. The Scottish quartet dominated from the off and took a 21-9 victory over Tegan Rees, Holly Dean, Estee Parry and Lauren Gowen.

Session Six
Scotland’s men went into the final match with a two point advantage over England knowing that a victory would make them champions. That’s exactly what the Scots delivered with a well earned 8-2 win.
Kyle Dalrymple and Lewis Betts suffered their first defeat of the series in the men’s pairs, losing out 15-23 to a strong performance from Finley Williamson and Charlie Beeton.
Both men’s triples teams chalked up crucial victories to put the Scots in pole position. Charlie Mitchell, Arron Craig and Craig Mackintosh had to fight hard to take a 16-15 win over Joe Vandepeer, Harry Duffield and Lloyd Milligan at the last end. Logan Kennedy, Ross Gouldstone and Stewart McAlees picked up their third win in as many matches as a triple, defeating Joe Sandford, Joe Sims and Alisdair Williams 21-12.
Arron McGlynn, Jamie Noon, Lee Trotter and Danny Stevenson saved their best performance for when it mattered most. The Scottish quartet overcame Oli Collins, Luke Bell, Mack May and Isaac Jenner 19-7 to ensure Scotland brought home the men’s series title.
Our women’s team went into the final session with only one shot separating them and England with both nations tied on 41 points. Their game finished in a 5-5 draw, but England won the overall scoreboard 65-72 which saw them win the series with their superior shot difference.
In the women’s pairs, Kara Lees and Beth Riva found themselves behind in the early stages and never managed to overturn the deficit, losing out 11-26 to Jenna Tuohy and Yasmina Hasan.
Scotland took three points of a possible four across the two women’s triples contests. After some excellent conversion shots by both skips at the last end, Beth Isbister, Leah McCloy and Eilidh Weir finished unbeaten across the whole series as they drew 16-16 with Tegan Grewal, Hannah Smith and Maddie Burgess. Erin Bedwell, Sophie McGrouther and Megan Sproat made a blistering start to their match, leading 16-0 just before the halfway stage. A change of jack length from the English team brought them back into the game as Scotland were pegged back to finish as 23-19 victors.
Lauren Roddie, Laura McCabe, Emma Blyth and Rebecca Houston finished their series with a 15-11 win against Madi King, Molly Haney, Izzie White and Chloe Brett in the women’s fours. Sadly, this was only a consolation victory for the Scots with England gaining the additional two points they required to win the series through their 7-shot advantage on the overall scoreboard.
Well done to the full Scottish team and our coaching staff on their amazing efforts throughout the weekend.
