Bowls Scotland Statement on Scottish Government announcement of local advice and measures in Aberdeen City

Applicable to all Bowls Scotland member clubs in the Aberdeen City Local Authority area

Following an increase in coronavirus (COVID-19) cases in Aberdeen, a number of local restrictions are being introduced in the Aberdeen City local authority area. These restrictions take effect from 5pm on Wednesday 5 August.

The following guidance should be adhered to by Bowling Clubs and members in the Aberdeen City local authority area:

• People should not travel more than five miles to their bowling club
• If players live in surrounding areas, they should not travel into Aberdeen City to access their club
• Bowling clubs should not offer indoor or outdoor hospitality
• Club house facilities (including toilets) should close and only be accessed to reach the green

Full details are available on the Scottish Government Website. Scottish Government has indicated that these changes will be reviewed after 7 days. All other guidance on physical distancing, good hygiene and household rules should still be adhered to.

Our message remains clear that public health and wellbeing is the most important priority and we all have a responsibility to follow the guidelines and continue to reduce the spread of the virus.
