Clydeside Cobras win 2024 Bowls Scotland Gents National Top 10

Clydeside Cobras were crowned Bowls Scotland Gents National Top 10 champions for 2024 at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr after defeating Bowler Coasters in this afternoon’s final.

In the singles, former under 25 and men’s internationalist Reece Notman claimed Clydeside Cobras’ first victory as he got the better of current men’s internationalist Andy Dunnett 21-14.

The pairs went the way of Bowler Coasters with Stephen King and Gordon White winning 16-11 against Kieran Ward and Michael Keenan.

After a hard fought 18 ends, the triples finished all square at 12-12. Despite the difficult conditions, a great battle was had between Alan Air, Alan Bruce and Kenny Paton for Clydeside Cobras and Alan Ure, Craig Gourlay and Ewan Shearer for Bowler Coasters.

The final would then be decided by the fours contest which went the way of Clydeside Cobras. Grant McLeod, Colin McIntyre, Robert McBride and Andrew McFarlane clinched a convincing 22-7 win over Craig Hastie, Brian Clarkson, John McDermott and Stuart Blakelock.

Congratulations to Clydeside Cobras on their 5-3 triumph and commiserations to Bowler Coasters for finishing this year’s event as runners-up. Thanks to Bowls Scotland President, Frances Sandilands, for carrying out the medal presentation.
