Bowls Scotland Announce New Strategic Director of Competitions and Events
Bowls Scotland are delighted to announce the appointment of new Strategic Director of Competitions and Events, Scott Meechan.
Scott’s role will involve developing the direction of competitions and events at a local, National and International level. In doing this he will work closely with Anna Marshall the Director for Competitions and Events who oversees the operational side of this area.
With a family background in bowls and playing from a young age himself, Scott has a vast amount of knowledge about the sport and a passion to drive it forward into the twenty first century. An accomplished Glasgow Business figure Scott has worked hard to build his own insurance company up from scratch over the past seven years which is now a leader in the industry in Scotland.
With a proven business and strategic mind-set, Scott brings a number of key skills and qualities to the board with his new role.
He explained:
“I have played Bowls at various levels over the past 30 years and loved what Bowls has given me in terms of competition and enjoyment. I am now at a stage in my career where I can give something back to the game and was keen to be involved and am really delighted to come on board.
I look forward to working with the Directors who are already working extremely hard as well as the volunteers and staff that do such a great job on a daily basis.”
Speaking of the new Director appointment, Bowls Scotland Chair, Sue Beatt added:
“We are delighted to have Scott on board as our new Strategic Director of Competitions and Events. Having a vast knowledge about bowls and business, Scott brings great skills and experience that will be beneficial in helping us work towards our strategy and drive the sport of lawn bowls forward.”
