Nationals Stories - Rebecca takes to the green aged 9

Tuesday's play at the National Championships saw a special achievement on Green A at the National Centre for Bowling as nine-year-old Rebecca McCutcheon competed in the Ladies' Junior Championship first round.

It was a fantastic achievement for Rebecca, of Stranraer BC, to take to the green in front of a big crowd and play against Scotland international Rachel Sinclair.

To qualify for the national finals, Rebecca beat her sister Bethany 21-20, and before the first round match said: "It's a really great experience and playing bowls is a great hobby."

Rebecca is one of 16 juniors at Stranraer BC and she is supported by Bethany, dad Paul, mum Nadine, step dad Callum and sister Chloe, as well as other family members and club-mates.

Rebecca was beaten 4-21 by Rachel in their first round match but we are sure we will see her back at the National Championships in future years.
