Scotland team announced for 2025 British Bowls Internationals

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the players that have been selected to represent Scotland at the 2025 British Bowls Internationals.

Scotland will take on England, Ireland, Jersey and Wales at Llandrindod Wells Bowling Club, Wales from Thursday 26th – Sunday 29th June. Following the recent Men’s and Women’s International Assessment Weekend, a total of 34 players have been selected for both the men’s and women’s squads. 15 players will be selected from the squad to play in either singles and fours or pairs and triples disciplines against each nation.

Eight of the 17 players selected in the men’s team all represented Scotland in last year’s series at Royal Leamington Spa Bowling Club, England. However, there are four new caps in the team which include 2024 Bowls Scotland Gents Fours winner Colin Bonner and Lewis Betts, Paul Innes and Stewart McAlees all make the step up from U25 international level. There are also five recalls to the team for experienced internationalists John Fleming, Paul Foster MBE, Grant Logan, Alex Marshall MBE and Ewan Shearer.

There is a familiar feel to the women’s side with 11 of the 17 strong team also having played in the 2024 series. Sophie McGrouther, Jaclyn Neil and Megan Sproat can all look forward to making their full international debuts. There are recalls to the squad for the talented trio of Caroline Brown, Lorna Cameron and Natalie McWilliams.

Bowls Scotland’s Pathway Lead, Wendy Purdie, said: Following the successful Podium Opens and International Assessment Weekend, we are eager to compete in the upcoming British Bowls Internationals at Llandrindod Wells, where we will be facing strong teams from across Britain.

“We are confident in our abilities and are excited to showcase the strength and skill of our selected Scottish men and women bowlers. We are a highly competitive squad with a blend of youth and experience, this includes seven new senior international players across both the men’s and women’s teams.

“Our squad is committed to a successful series and we look forward to a challenging competition.”
