Obituary for Ian Munro

Bowls Scotland are saddened to learn of the passing of World Bowls Life Member, Ian Munro. Ian was a well-respected figure within the Scottish & World bowls community and dedicated much of his time to many different aspects of our great sport.

He had been a member of the World Bowls Law Committee since 2004 and was appointed as co-ordinator to create the Laws of the Sport of Bowls, Crystal Mark, which is now in its third edition.

Ian also officiated as an umpire at numerous World Bowls Championships, World Indoor Championships & Commonwealth Games and was also appointed Chief Technical Official at the 2010 Commonwealth Games in Delhi and the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

A member of Linlithgow Bowling Club in West Lothian, Ian has certainly left a lasting impact on the bowling world. Our thoughts go out to Ian’s family and friends at this sad time.
