2025 Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles - Day Three Report

Congratulations to Scotland’s Danny Stevenson who has won the 2025 Bowls Europe Under 25 Singles title at Sun Bowls Club in Jersey.

Danny secured the gold medal with a 7-4 & 7-3 victory over Ireland’s Daniel Spratt in this afternoon’s final. Impressively, Danny won all eight matches he competed in throughout the tournament across his six group matches and the semi final and final.

Earlier in the day, the Scot faced Jersey’s Megan Kivlin in his final group game having already qualified for the knockout stages. Starting the match strongly, Danny capitalised on his early momentum and took the first set 6-4. However, Megan came battling back well and produced several good ends to ensure she claimed the second set 11-2. Having already won two one end tie breaks earlier in the group phase, Danny continued this trend of delivering the big bowls at the right moment to win the match.

Scotland’s other representative Megan Sproat also continued her excellent run in the competition courtesy of her 1.5-0.5 sets victory against Zoe Stratton from Ireland in her last group game. England’s Lloyd Milligan managed to beat Taylor Greechan from Jersey in straight sets which ensured Megan advanced to the semi final stage.

Megan and Danny now played against each other in the semi final, guaranteeing Scotland a place in the gold medal match. It was Megan who got the better of the opening exchanges to hold a 4-1 lead after five ends in the first set. Danny continued to display the fighting spirit he had shown all week to acquire the three shots he needed over the next two ends to half the first set. The second set began in similar fashion with the score tied at 3-3 after four ends. At this stage of the contest, Danny was able to find an extra gear to get him over the winning line 8-3.

Although she lost out in the semi final, Megan would still have the opportunity to bring home a medal by taking on Lloyd Milligan from England in the bronze medal match. Despite competing well, Megan was unfortunately beaten 3-7 & 5-6 in this game.

Well done again to Danny and Megan on their strong performances throughout the event. Thanks also to Bowls Europe and Sun Bowls Club in Jersey for delivering a memorable competition for the continents rising stars.
