Safeguarding: Guidance, Policies and Forms

How to join PVG scheme if you are a Club Coach or General Volunteer?

PVG requests must be submitted by the Club WPO. Please ask your Club WPO to submit a PVG Application on your behalf.

If you don’t know who your Club WPO is please contact Bowls Scotland safeguarding team.

How does a Club WPO submit PVG applications for Club Coaches or General Volunteers?

If you are a Club WPO, please submit a PVG Application Request Form available via the links below

Applications submitted by individuals who are not a Club WPO will not be processed.

How to become a Club WPO?

1. Your Club needs to appoint and register you as a Wellbeing and Protection Officer (WPO) with Bowls Scotland.

To do this please complete and return a WPO agreement & ID verification form and a Suitability Decision Agreement.

This will allow Bowls Scotland to submit a PVG application for you to Disclosure Scotland and also process any PVG applications that your Club submit for Coaches and Volunteers once you are appointed.

2. You will also need to register for both CWPS and CWPO training - more information can be found here Child Protection Workshop Dates | Bowls Scotland 2026

*Please note that a WPO should not hold the role of a coach.

* In addition, any PVG's currently held by Club members must be for the role that they carry out within Bowls and not pertaining to employment or other sporting / volunteering activities.
