2024 Hong Kong Classic - Day Four Round Up
Scotland continued their strong start to the 2024 Hong Kong Classic, notching up a total of four wins from today’s six matches in the Men’s and Women’s Pairs.
Darren Gualtieri and Iain McLean produced another three impressive victories to remain undefeated in Group A. The Scots started off their day with a hard fought 6-0 win over KCC. Starting to find their groove, Darren and Iain backed this result up with a resounding 6-0 victory against HKFC. In their final fixture of the day, the Scots got the better of Hong Kong U23’s 4-2 after winning the first set 15-2 and losing out in the second set 4-11.
In the Women’s Pairs, Dee Hoggan and Rachel Sinclair had a tough day at the office, losing two of their three respective matches. Scotland suffered a narrow 1-5 defeat at the hands of Malaysia in their first game of the day. Not to be disheartened by this, Dee and Rachel responded well and produced an excellent display to overcome Macao 6-0. Rounding off their day, the Scottish duo tasted another defeat 2-4 against the talented Canadian pairing of Emma Boyd and Kelly McKerihen.
Tomorrow’s matches see Darren and Iain take on ZGMBC and TMSA as they look to consolidate on their undefeated start in the Men’s Pairs. For Dee and Rachel, the big games keep coming thick and fast as they take on New Zealand and England in their two matches.
