2025 Presidents Message

I am honoured to be President of Bowls Scotland for 2025, it is also a great honour to be elected by the member clubs and I will try to carry out my duties to the best of my ability.

I would like to thank my club, East Linton Bowling Club, and all the clubs in my District for all the support they have given me as Gents District Co-Ordinator over the years.

The immediate Past President Francis Sandilands has done terrific work in her year as President, and I hope I can fulfil the role as well as she has. I will support the new Vice President Sandra McLeish and Junior Vice President Rae Graham to the best of my ability.

All the staff at Bowls Scotland are always working hard to support clubs and organise all the various competitions. The National Championships which are a great spectacle of the best bowlers from all over Scotland, the Ladies and Gents National Top 10’s, the Linda Brennan Ladies Under 25 Pairs and the new Andy Meekison Trophy for the Gents Under 25 Pairs, which I will be proud to present for the first time as Andy was a great friend and ambassador for the game of bowls.

Try Bowls, BowlsMark and the National Volunteer Awards are great ways to help clubs with support, funding and recognise the hard work a lot of members put into their clubs. Whether it be through coaching, committee roles, working around the club, greenkeeping and carrying out many other jobs to help keep our great sport alive.

I am looking forward to supporting Scotland’s U18, U25, Para, Men’s and Women’s teams at their respective International Series throughout the season. I hope to meet a lot of bowlers around the country this season, especially at the National Championships in Ayr from Saturday 26th July – Saturday 2nd August.

I would like to finish by wishing all bowlers good health and success on the greens this coming season, no matter what level you are playing at go out and enjoy this wonderful sport.
