2023 Hong Kong Classic - Day Five Round Up

Day five was yet another fruitful day for the Scottish contingent at the Hong Kong Classic as there were three wins from today’s four matches for our Men’s and Women’s pairings.

Dee Hoggan and Rachel Sinclair produced their best day of the tournament so far and notched up two commanding 6-0 victories over Malaysia and Norfolk Island. The Scots are currently sat in first place in Section B courtesy of these vital two wins. Tomorrow, they take on CCC, Hong Kong and YDT in three more crucial fixtures in the penultimate day of the group stages.

Thursday games brought mixed emotions for our Men’s Pairs team of Paul Kane Jnr and Gary Prunty as they defeated Macao 6-0 but lost out 1-5 against the strong Malaysian pairing. Following today’s results, the Scottish duo are now in third place in Section B with their qualification hopes still in their own hands. Paul and Gary face three local Hong Kong teams tomorrow in GLBC, HKFC and KCC.

Best of luck to all four players for their four remaining group matches over the next two days!
