Scotland team announced for 2026 Atlantic International Challenge

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce the players selected to represent Scotland at the 2026 Atlantic International Challenge.

The Atlantic International Challenge is a key event within the Bowls Scotland international calendar, providing valuable international competition experience against strong opposition from Canada, Ireland and the USA. This year's event takes place at Belmont Bowling Club, Belfast, Ireland, from Sunday 6 to Thursday 9 September 2026.

A squad of 18 players and directors has been selected to represent Scotland across singles, pairs, triples and fours disciplines, bringing together experienced internationals, Commonwealth Games representatives, national champions and exciting emerging talent.

Several players return following their involvement in previous Atlantic International Challenges, including Connor Milne, Gary Prunty, Darren Gualtieri, Rebecca Houston, Natalie McWilliams, John Wardrope and Ross Noble, all of whom have demonstrated their ability to perform on the international stage.

The squad also includes players who have enjoyed outstanding domestic success during 2026. Emma MacLeod earns selection following another remarkable season, which included securing a second National Singles title, while Andrew Dunnett, Stewart McAlees and Megan Sproat have all impressed through strong and consistent performances throughout the outdoor campaign.

Scotland's squad benefits from a wealth of experience, with Stacey MacDougall, Melanie Inness, Sarah Jane Ewing and John McDermott bringing significant knowledge from national and international competition. Ewing's extensive directing experience, coupled with her recent involvement in the Commonwealth Games environment, further strengthens the team heading into Belfast.

There is also an exciting opportunity for a number of players to make their Atlantic International Challenge debuts. Declan Tobin, Lee Mitchell and Andrew Fleming have earned selection following impressive performances and will be looking to make their mark on the international event.

The selected players will compete to retain their overall team title as one Scotland team, whilst also looking to secure para, men's and women's titles respectively.
