District 9 & 10 win 2024 Andy Houston Youth County Finals

Congratulations to District 9 & 10 on winning the 2024 Andy Houston Youth County Finals at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr.

The team from Stirlingshire were crowned champions by 9 clear points after impressively winning six of their seven matches during today’s finals.

After winning their opening two encounters 5-1 and 4-2 against District 27 & 29 and District 11, 12 & 23, the Stirlingshire based team grew from strength to strength and recorded three straight 6-0 victories in their next three games. In their penultimate match, District 9 & 10 clinched a 5-1 win over their nearest competitors, District 6 (Perthshire), which saw them crowned champions with a session to spare.

Well done also to District 6 and District 14 & 15 (Edinburgh) who finished the day as bronze and silver medallists, with only one point separating the two sides.

A huge thanks to all eight teams that entered this year’s competition, it was brilliant to have 96 up and coming youngsters competing on the Northfield greens. Our thanks also go to Scottish internationalist, Michael Stepney, who presented the medals and trophy to District 9 & 10’s team captain, Leah Hunter.
