East Lothian Ladies win 2023 Ladies National Top 10

East Lothian Ladies were crowned Ladies National Top 10 champions for 2023 at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr after defeating Wannabowl in this afternoons final.

In the singles, Emma Blyth kept up her impressive form on the Northfield greens and defeated Scottish internationalist, Dawn Anderson, 21-13. The pairs game went in favour of Wannabowl courtesy of Margaret Bingham and Josephine Williamson winning 19-12 against Hazel Fender and Jen Newlands.

With the match perfectly poised at one win a piece, the overall winner was now going to be determined by the triples and fours encounters. East Lothian wrested back their advantage when Ali Carswell, Mags Thomson and Janet Fairnie secured a narrow three-shot victory over Liz Hume, Sharon Robertson and Heather Kay. To ensure there was no doubt of the result, East Lothian’s rink of Chloe McMillan, Arlene Whitecross, Melissa Penman and Yvonne Veitch put in an excellent display to win 22-6 against Wannabowl’s Tammy McLean, Susan Cobbledick, Claire McCurdie and Donna Clark.

Congratulations to East Lothian Ladies on their 6-2 triumph and commiserations to Wannabowl who had a great run to reach the final. Thanks also to Bowls Scotland’s Ladies President, Marella O’Neill, for carrying out the medal presentation.
