2022 European Championships - Coach Education

Bowls Scotland is delighted to announce that we will be co-ordinating and delivering coaching courses for Bowls Europe member countries ahead of the 2022 European Championships.

Adam Martin, our Coach and Volunteer Manager, and his dedicated team of tutors will be delivering Bowls Scotland’s Introduction to Bowls Coaching Award and Level 1 Coaching Award to 15 coaches from 8 different Bowls Europe member countries.

This is the second time that Bowls Scotland will have delivered coaching courses to the continent as the same programme was delivered successfully ahead of the 2019 European Championships in Guernsey. The courses being delivered will be funded from the World Bowls Development Fund, as upskilling coaches is vitally important to growing bowls globally.

Both the Introduction to Bowls Coaching Award and Level 1 Coaching Award will be delivered at the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr on Wednesday 6th and Thursday 7th July, prior to the 2022 European Championships commencing on Saturday 9th July.

Bowls Scotland’s Coach and Volunteer Manager, Adam Martin, said: “We are honoured and very excited to be delivering our excellent Coach Education programme to our fellow European nations.

“We have been working closely with World Bowls and Bowls Europe Director, Garry Collins, with all nations looking for much more opportunities across Europe to expand their coaching knowledge and experiences. It is fantastic to see Scotland leading the way in bowls coaching for others.

“We have developed our coaching courses for all Scottish clubs to access and we are now upskilling more Scottish coaches than ever before, so it is so great to see World Bowls and Bowls Europe acknowledging our great work and allowing us to help upskill coaches from other European nations too.”

Garry Collins, World Bowls Regional Director for Europe, added: I am delighted to be working with Bowls Scotland again, the coaching event in Guernsey ahead of the 2019 Championships was an amazing success and many international countries are already seeing the benefits.

“I am very grateful to the Board of World Bowls for supporting this event with funding from the Development Fund, coaching is a key development area for us globally and Europe is leading the way. My thanks again go to Bowls Scotland.”
