Session Six
Scotland faced England in the final session of this year’s British Bowls U18 Internationals trailing by two points and requiring an 8-4 victory to be crowned champions.
The Scots made the stronger start of the two nations and held a slender lead at the halfway stage, however England fought back valiantly in the last third of the match to claim victory and the series title.
After some nail-biting last few ends across the green, Abbie Harris & Logan Fraser ended as Scotland’s only winning team of the session as they beat Evie Mills & Dylan Williamson 15-11.
Jessica Young & Logan Kennedy led early on but couldn’t maintain their momentum, eventually losing out to 9-16 to a solid performance from Sophie Wood & Alfie Holland.
Both Scottish fours team of Emily Houston, Amy Blyth, Corey Cadger & Kyle Dalrymple and Chloe Buchanan, Meghan Wallace, Kyle Malcolmson & Thomas Jamieson were ahead at certain points of their matches. However, requiring more shots to tilt the overall score in Scotland’s favour, both teams took additional risks over the last few ends and eventually lost by five shots and one shot respectively.
Well done to the full Scottish team and our coaching staff on their amazing efforts throughout the weekend! Finally, congratulations to England on their victory at this year’s series.
