COVID-19 Update - 25th February

The First Minister outlined on Tuesday 23rd February an indicative staged timetable for easing Scotland out of lockdown, including the resumption of organised group sporting activities by the end of April.

We anticipate there will be a return to a levels system for permitted sporting activity with confirmation of each level due by Mid-March. As always, we will work in partnership with sportscotland and the Scottish Government to ensure our Return to the Green Guidance for 2021 adheres to published advice and legislation. Our comprehensive guidance and resources are being finalised and as soon as we receive confirmation of permitted bowling and clubhouse activity, we will make these available to affiliated Bowls Scotland clubs.

A reminder that all clubs are now required to appoint a named COVID Officer to ensure the club and members operate in a safe manner and adhere to Scottish Government and Bowls Scotland guidelines. This information is currently being gathered via capitation.

Our competition scenario planning is still ongoing, and we will endeavour to offer as much domestic competition as possible within the guidelines. Once we receive more information from the Scottish Government, the Board of Directors will meet to finalise the details of Bowls Scotland’s competitions for this season.

We are confident that our clubs will continue to demonstrate adaptability, creativity, and resilience to ensure people across the country can safely return to the green this season.

As soon as we can, we will issue further information and guidance to our clubs and members. Our current off-season COVID-19 guidance and resources are available to view here: https://www.bowlsscotland.com/clubs/club-support-covid-19
