Glasgow 2026 Bowls Selection Policy released
With the Glasgow 2026 medal programme now unveiled, Bowls Scotland and Commonwealth Games Scotland are delighted to share the bowls-specific selection policy for the Games.
A total of seven gold medals will be on offer at the Games across the mainstream and para disciplines. We believe our devised selection policy will strike the perfect balance between a strong number of athletes representing Scotland, and success.
Commonwealth Games Scotland aims to select a team of athletes capable of competing with distinction for Scotland at the 2026 Commonwealth Games, meeting the stated performance aims of each sport and team members having a positive experience within Team Scotland at the Games.
The selection window officially comes into effect on 1st May 2025. The full criteria can be found here.
On releasing the policy, Bowls Scotland’s Head of High-Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said: “We are delighted to unveil the official selection policy for bowls ahead of the upcoming Commonwealth Games.
“This policy provides a clear pathway for players striving to represent Team Scotland. The criteria include strong performances at the Atlantic International Challenge, Hong Kong World Cup and tailored test events to replicate the format of the pending Games.
“We look forward to seeing Scotland’s finest bowlers showcase their talent and determination as they aim for selection, and ultimately success at the Games.”
