Marchmount BC Club Story

Marchmount Bowling Club in Dumfries, District 31, registered as a Try Bowls Club this season and sought support from National Development Officer Lawra Cox who hosted an Introduction to Bowls Coaching Award (IBCA) Course at the club as well as advise on setting up the green for a successful Try Bowls membership recruitment event.

The club members have promoted the club, and the sport of bowls, through printed and digital marketing and have managed to spread word of their facilities, events, and open and inclusive club within the Dumfries community.

The clubs 7 newly qualified IBCA coaching volunteers have dedicated their time to hold events for members’ friends and family as well as the wider community. Dumfries Get Together, a local group that creates a safe space for ladies to get together and enjoy a range of activities from theatre trips to coffee mornings were welcomed to the club where 17 ladies enjoyed a taster session of bowls with some fun games, basic coaching and a few competitive ends.
