2023 World Bowls Championships Kit Reveal
Bowls Scotland are delighted to formally launch Scotland's playing kit for the upcoming 2023 World Bowls Championships.
Working with our official kit supplier, XX:20, we have designed a kit that is both modern and comfortable for our players to be able to deliver their best performances in the Gold Coast, Australia.
Kit was distributed to our players and coaches at a recent training session at Linlithgow BC. The new playing tops, jackets and shorts feature an abstract design along with tartan cuffs, to add an extra Scottish feel. Similar to last summer’s Commonwealth Games kit, moving away from the old-fashioned image of bowling whites, the tops feature the blue more synonymous with Scottish playing strips. XX:20 have also provided a new design for training kit for the squad while they are over in Australia.
The move to more colourful kit reflects the changes taking place within our sport to modernise, with many bowling clubs across the nation trying to appeal to the masses with more relaxed dress codes.
Commentating on the kit and the upcoming World Bowls Championships, Head of High Performance Bowls, Kareena Cuthbert, said: “It was an exciting day having the full squad together as we ran through our final preparations for the World Championships. I would like to thank our under 25 international teams for providing some competitive games for our final session, it was great to see the next generation of stars taking on our established players.
“In terms of the playing kit, the eye-catching design lends itself to a modern sports team and I’m very pleased with the final product. We owe a huge thanks to XX:20 for their professionalism and efficiency during the design, order and delivery stages of the new kit.
“Once again, thanks to Linlithgow Bowling Club for their hospitality and being so accommodating when hosting us all ahead of the World Championships.
XX:20 Co-Owner, Megan Grantham, added: “We are delighted to have supplied Scotland’s kit for the upcoming World Bowls Championships, with this being another step towards modernising the image of bowls through clothing. The kit was inspired by a whole range of Scotland kits from all different sports.
“This has been a very busy year for us working with Bowls Scotland, but we believe we are moving in the right direction with so much more to do! We would like to wish all the players the best of luck in the World Championships!”
