Ashleen Cousins appointed new Marketing Officer

We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ashleen Cousins as Bowls Scotland’s new Marketing Officer.

Ashleen graduated from Swansea University in 2013 with a First-Class Honours Degree in Business Management. Since then, she has worked for England Boxing as Coaching Course Administrator which also involved managing their social media channels for Coach Education. Her previous role, before joining Bowls Scotland, was Project Manager for Green Goblet Ltd, where she managed the distribution and collection of reusable cups at every rugby match held at England’s Twickenham Stadium as well as the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

She has a great passion for a number of sports and used to play hockey at county level and also enjoys playing badminton in her spare time. This deep interest in sport has seen Ashleen volunteer at several of the biggest sporting events on the globe, including the 2015 Rugby World Cup, 2015 European Hockey Championships and 2016 European Archery Championships.

In her role as Marketing Officer, Ashleen will be responsible for the development of our overall marketing plan and activities aimed at growing lawn bowls in Scotland. With the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games now on the horizon, she will also work closely with our Communications Officer, Darren Weir, on the planning and promotion of our sports next major event.

Excited about starting her new role, Ashleen, said: “I am so excited to join the team at Bowls Scotland, everyone has given me such a warm welcome.

“I can already see the passion and enthusiasm for bowls amongst the staff and members and am looking forward to using that to support our clubs and engage new interest from outside the sport. With the Commonwealth Games coming up next summer there is so much opportunity to build on Scotland’s previous successes, it’s a really exciting time to come on board.”

Chief Executive, Alan McMillan, added: “I am happy to welcome Ashleen to our diverse and experienced team here at Bowls Scotland.

“How we market bowls to existing players, non-bowlers and potential new partners is vitally important to continue to grow and develop our great game. I’m extremely confident with Ashleen’s skills and expertise that she will be a valuable addition to our Marketing & Communications department.”
