Nicola Wilson appointed onto Board of Directors

We are delighted to announce the appointment of Nicola Wilson as a General Director onto the Bowls Scotland Board of Directors.

A former international cricketer, Nicola has a background and wealth of experience in the sports development industry. The majority of that time has been spent working in cricket across the globe in countries such as Australia, England, Netherlands and New Zealand in a variety of different roles.

In 2016, Nicola was appointed Women and Girls Development Manager at Cricket Scotland before progressing on to become Head of Development in 2019. She was also part of the first cohort of the sportscotland Scottish Sporting Leaders Programme and a 2022 graduate of the global Women's Sport Leadership Academy (WSLA).

Looking forward to starting her new role, Nicola said: “I was blown away by the number of clubs and the size of the playing membership of bowls in Scotland and I love the fact that bowls is very much at the heart of our communities.

“I am looking forward to delivering the exciting new strategy with Bowls Scotland’s Board, staff, clubs and communities, building on the good work already being done to ensure everyone feels welcome and included in bowls in Scotland.

“I want to inspire more women to get involved, not only in a playing capacity but also in coaching, officiating and in decision making roles at all levels.

Bowls Scotland CEO, Alan McMillan, added: “I am pleased to welcome Nicola onto the Board of Directors.

“Having played international level sport for a number of years and winning the 2000 Women’s Cricket World Cup with New Zealand, Nicola’s sporting experiences and professional background will undoubtedly be a great asset to Bowls Scotland.

“I look forward to working with Nicola and wish her every success in her new role.”
