Obituary for John Darling

Bowls Scotland are extremely saddened to learn of the passing of former Scottish Bowling Association President, John Darling.

John was President of the SBA in 1998 and carried out the role as one of the SBA’s District Secretaries for over 20 years. He also had the honour of being President of the British Isles Bowls Council in 1998 and served as the BIBC’s Secretary between 1998-2000.

Gorebridge Bowling Club in Midlothian made John an Honorary Member of the club for all his services to our sport. John was also a former club champion as well as Treasurer at the club and an extremely popular character within the bowling community.

We would like to pass on our sincere condolences to John’s wife Betty, family and friends, and everyone at Gorebridge BC at this incredibly sad time.
