Scotland Make Positive Start to Four Nations Campaign

Scotland opened their Four Nations campaign against Ireland on Tuesday 28 April, with a full day of international action at Glasgow Indoor Bowling Club.

The opening day saw Scotland compete across all disciplines, including singles, pairs, para pairs and VI mixed pairs, with each match-up played twice across the day.

There were strong performances in the women’s pairs and VI mixed pairs, with Beth Riva and Caroline Brown, and Mary Stevenson and Robert Barr, producing impressive results on the opening day.

In the women’s pairs, Riva and Brown started strongly against Ireland’s Wilson and O’Neill, before following that up with another positive result later in the day.

Stevenson and Barr also enjoyed a successful opening day in the VI mixed pairs, coming through two competitive matches against Walsh and Reid.

Scotland also picked up wins across the men’s singles, men’s pairs, para women’s pairs and para men’s pairs, with Jason Banks, Paul Foster MBE and Alex Marshall MBE, Pauline Wilson and Mary Wilson, and Gary Brown and Stuart Sloan all recording victories during the day.

The opening day provided a competitive start to the event, with several fixtures decided by tie-breaks and drawn sets. Scotland will return to the green on Wednesday 29 April, where they will face Malaysia across all disciplines.
