2025 Hong Kong Classic - Day Four Report

Scotland continued their impressive start to the 2025 Hong Kong Classic, notching up a total of five wins from today’s six matches in the men’s and women’s pairs.

Darren Gualtieri and Gary Prunty delivered the perfect day, picking up three 6-0 victories to maintain their 100% winning recording in Group B. The Scots started off their day with a strong performance to defeat USA. Continuing their form, Darren and Gary backed this result up with an important win over New Zealand. In their final contest of the day, the Scottish duo got the better of the Chinese pairing 18-5 & 13-4 over the two sets.

In the women’s pairs, Jess Weir and Alison Lamont recorded two wins from their three respective matches. Scotland overcame KCC with a hard fought 4-2 victory in their opening game of the day. Using this momentum, Jess and Alison chalked up a resounding 6-0 victory against STSA in their following match. Rounding off their day, the Scottish pairing were beaten 2-4 by ILBC’s Gloria Wong and Ada Lam.

With only five group matches complete out of the 11 games that both Scottish teams will contest, there is plenty still to play for with both pairings currently well positioned in their respective sections. Tomorrow is a day of rest for all the competing nations before the action re-commences on Thursday 20th November.
