Gary & Jimmy Anderson Win 2026 European Open Pairs

Congratulations to Campbeltown Bowling Club's father-and-son partnership, Gary and Jimmy Anderson, on their outstanding victory in the 2026 European Open Pairs Championship.

After successfully progressing through a full day of sectional play on Saturday, the Anderson duo went on to negotiate a further five knockout rounds, defeating several international-calibre opponents along the way. Their impressive run earned them a place in the final against Ayrshire pair Stuart Wyllie and Declan Shaw.

The championship match, played on the fast-paced Northfield green, provided a thrilling contest. Over 11 hard-fought ends, Gary and Jimmy held their nerve to secure a narrow 10-8 victory, claiming the European Open title in dramatic fashion.

Commiserations go to Stuart and Declan, who played their part in an excellent final and pushed the eventual champions all the way.

The medal presentation was carried out by Bowls Scotland Junior Vice President Maureen Wallace and CEO Malcolm Dingwall-Smith, whose attendance helped mark a memorable occasion.

A special thank you is also extended to the dedicated team of umpires and volunteers whose hard work and commitment help make events of this scale possible.
