HOME NATIONS - DAY FOUR SESSION ONE

This morning’s session brings the Home Nations from the National Centre for Bowling, Ayr to a close.

Iain McLean represented Scotland Alloway in the Men’s Singles against Dan Salmon of Wales, McLean took an early lead and dominated the match finishing off his weekend with a 21:8 win. For Scotland Culzean Darren Burnett took on Ireland’s Adam McKeown in a close match, it was tied at 8:8 after 9 ends but finished in a 21:18 defeat for Scotland.

In the Men’s Fours Scotland Culzean’s Stewart Anderson, Ronnie Duncan, Darren Weir and Paul Foster MBE took an early 6:0 lead but went on to lose 19:14 to Ireland. Martyn Rice, Derek Oliver, John Fleming and Jason Banks teamed up for Scotland Alloway and got off to a flying start with an 8:0 lead after 4 ends. The Welsh side of Owain Dando, Jarrad Breen, Chris Klefenz and Jon Tomlinson stole the lead at 14:12 and the last two ends were neck and neck with Wales claiming the win with two shots, final score 16:15 to Wales.

Hannah Smith and Caroline Brown were paired for Culzean against England’s Ellen Faulkner and Amy Gowshall, unfortunately losing 22:11. Scotland Culzean’s Triples saw a team of Carla Banks, Megan Grantham and Lauren Baillie-Whyte play a great contest against an English side. The sides were neck and neck at 6:6 after 9 ends, but Scotland fought back from 10:6 down and went on to win the match 14:12.
