Staffing Update at Bowls Scotland

16/2/2026

Bowls Scotland is pleased to share a number of staffing updates as we continue to strengthen our team and support the development of our sport across the country.

Oliver Martyn appointed National Development Officer (East)

We are delighted to confirm that Oliver Martyn will join the team in March 2026 as our new National Development Officer for the East region.

Based in Edinburgh, Oliver is a member of Falcon BC and Bainfield Indoor BC. His recent work has focused on educational development programmes, and he is looking forward to combining his background in operations management with his passion for community sport. Oliver is due to start his role at Bowls Scotland on the 9th of March.

Richard Doyle joins as Communications Officer

Richard Doyle joins Bowls Scotland as Communications Officer, bringing extensive marketing and communications experience from both basketball and football.

He has previously worked with Caledonia Gladiators, Scotland’s only professional basketball club, and Caledonian Braves, Scotland’s newest senior football club, known for its worldwide online fan ownership model.

Richard is looking forward to working with clubs, partners and stakeholders across Scotland to showcase the stories, people and impact that make bowls so special.

Malcolm Dingwall-Smith, CEO of Bowls Scotland, said:

“We are delighted to bring Oliver and Richard into the team. Oliver’s passion for bowls shown through during the recruitment process. He is looking forward to working with clubs in the East region and supporting them to grow. Richard’s experience in communications in basketball and football will bring real value as we continue to promote a positive and modern image of bowls.”

Stuart Bell to cover the North region

As Oliver prepares to join the team in the East, Stuart Bell will move to cover the North region. In doing so, Stuart will take up the role of National Development Manager.

Stuart previously covered the North for several years and is well known to clubs across the region. His experience and established relationships will provide valuable continuity as we continue to support clubs and grow the game.

Until Oliver takes up post, any enquiries relating to the East region can be directed to Stuart Bell at stuartbell@bowlsscotland.com.

Roz Asli to leave Bowls Scotland

Roz Asli will be leaving her role with Bowls Scotland at the end of February. Roz joined the team as Equality, Inclusion and Welfare Manager in July 2023 and contributed to driving forward the organisation’s Equality Action Plan and strengthening our approach to supporting mental health.

Malcolm Dingwall-Smith added:

“I would like to thank Roz for her contribution to making bowls a more diverse and accessible sport over the past three years and wish her every success in the future.”
